What is SAFe® and who is a SAFe® RTE

The Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) is the world’s leading framework for implementing enterprise agility. Practiced in over 70% of the US Fortune 100, SAFe has shown to improve time to market, predictability, product quality, and employee engagement.

As a SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE), you are a servant leader and coach responsible for driving end-to-end delivery of value in an Agile Release Train (ART) or Value Stream in a Lean-Agile enterprise. The role of the RTE is to manage risks, escalate impediments, confirm value delivery and assist in driving consistent improvement. This means the RTE must create the right environment, have the right conversations, facilitate the right meetings, and gather the right people to make decisions based on the right data.

In this SAFe® RTE course, you’ll learn to execute SAFe® and continuously improve PI Planning and other key SAFe® events. You’ll see how to coach leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in new processes and mindsets. And you’ll get the guidance and tools you need to work effectively in remote environments with distributed teams.

Enrollment & Certification Requirements

There are no mandatory prerequisites for the SAFe® RTE certification. However, the SAFe® 6.0 Release Train Engineer training is an advanced course and therefore, the following prerequisites are highly recommended:

Hold at least one current SAFe® certification (we recommend the SAFe® Agilist certification, SAFe® Scrum Master) or an accredited certification like Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) certification.

To perform the role of a SAFe® RTE and earn the SAFe® RTE certification, you should be able to:

Apply Lean-Agile knowledge and tools to execute and release value.

Build a high-performing Agile Release Train (ART) by becoming a servant leader and coach.

Develop an action plan to continue your learning journey.
